The US Attorney General and the United States Medical Policy, The U.S. Attorney General Imposes Punishment for Medical Workers
Recommending Medicine to Make Haste the Death of Badly Laid up Patients. Many
disputes are run around the recent transphormations in the United
States medical policy initiated by the U.S. Attorney General Ashkroft.
The matter is that he ordered directives according to which medical
workers are to be penalized for recommending medication on request of
the people who are badly poorly and have a desire to make haste their
decease.
This is with no doubt a burning question, for a number of
discussions are conducted around and quite dissimilar opinions are
maintained. But, from the point of view of Ashkroft, the decease as a
target is in fact a suicide, and it is not to be lawfully maintained by
medical service. However, the Attorney General is not intending to start
up complex monitoring of medica practice all over the country. The
prescription of limited substances to relief the man's suffering is also
not to be forbidden.
The Attorney General was pretty respectful and well-posed in his speech; he confirmed medical workers that there is no prospective threat of permanent scrutiny by the Administration of Drug Enforcement. He told that this institution will make a difference between suicide approved by the assistance of a physician and the necessary measures used in order to evoid or reduce strong hurting.
This way Ashkroft has taken away the privilege of states to hold their local policy in the field of medicine. And the government (and this is rather strange) maintained those restrictions despite that earlier it made it achievable to foil them. In other words the righst of the states were undermined. This way the whole power over medical practice in the U.S. is concentrated in the hands of the U.S. Attorney General. This fact can't be out of social discussion.
Nowadays medical workers provide health care according to the state law, requirements of the patients, and professional decisions. But you can picture what it is going to be with medicine in case of entire command by the Attorney General, who is not medical expert at all. That's why medical organizations of the U.S. challenge the position of Ashkroft.
